Position Description:

The Department of French and Italian in the Division of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures at The University of Iowa seeks a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Italian for the 2024-2025 academic year. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach introductory and intermediate language courses as well as literary and cultural surveys. The teaching load, contingent upon enrollments, is eight courses per year.

Education Requirement:

Ph.D. with a specialization in a relevant area of Italian studies in hand by start date

Required Qualifications:

Native or near-native fluency in Italian and English and record of excellence in teaching Italian at the college/university level.

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience with online/hybrid teaching; expertise in language pedagogy and the use of multimedia technology in SLA.
