Assistant Manager, In-Room Dining

In Room Dining Assistant Manager

Assist the IRD manager with managing the Room Service operation. Responsibilities includes but not limited to, guest satisfaction, compliance with Loews Hotels standards, recruiting, training and onboarding of all staff, execution of payroll and tips distribution, proficiency in POS and computer skills and a passion for hospitality. Supervision and coordination of Room Service activities and orders in accordance with Loews Hotels standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Performs departmental leadership opening and closing duties
  • Monitors and supervises department staff
  • Schedules Room Service staff according to established guidelines and forecasted needs
  • Oversees VIP amenity preparation and delivery, monitors in-house VIPs to ensure satisfaction
  • Ensure all guest orders, including amenities are delivered in a timely manner and in line with Loews and specific property standards
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including, but not limited to weekends and late hours
  • Work with partnering departments in communication to ensure all guests requests and inquiries are executed in a timely manner
  • Inspects all equipment prior to, during and at end of shift and reports any needed repairs through HotSOS consistently
  • Oversee inventories for the department and places orders according to set pars
  • Inspects Room Service area, floors, and service landings to ensure standards of service are maintained
  • Enforces established guidelines and policies of the hotel and carries out disciplinary action(s), as necessary
  • Provide instruction and/or guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations
  • Perform daily pre-shift meetings with all Room Service team members to engage and motivate
  • Perform allocated service Spot Checks monthly
  • Checks all Room Service Orders for accuracy and completeness prior to departing kitchen
  • Monitors/sets up and serves order in guest room, according to guest preference, in a polite professional manner
  • Ensures that proper charge authorization or payment for orders delivered is obtained
  • Monitors completion of departmental paperwork to ensure accuracy
  • Coordinates and tracks pick up of soiled Room Service trays and carts from guestrooms and corridors
  • Ensures cleanliness of Room Service area and equipment
  • Assigns and verifies completion of closing duties at end of shift
  • Performs administrative functions for department in accordance with hotel standards
  • Attends meetings as required to communicate with personnel and stay current with pertinent hotel information and activities
  • Attend scheduled food and beverage meetings
  • Revise standard and procedures for department, as necessary
  • Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by the Director of Food & Beverage

Qualifications

  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, and holidays
  • Be a self-motivator and motivator of others
  • Have a pleasant, friendly and helpful manner
  • Maintain a clean and healthy personal hygiene and grooming
  • Work in a safe, prudent and organized manner
  • Be able to relate to all levels of guests and management
  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience F&B management or supervisory experience in a similar position in a luxury hotel property
  • Have the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Have superior communication and organization skills
  • Be able to consistently delight and satisfy our guest
  • Ability to lift 35+ pounds
