Career Path Summary:

The positions in the Employee Benefits Administrator career path bear responsibility for planning and administering our employee benefit programs. They require in-depth knowledge of our specific benefit programs and an up-to-date familiarity with laws and regulations that affect benefits policy (e.g., ERISA, FMLA, ACA, HIPAA, etc.). They are the first point of contact for employee questions about benefits policy and procedure.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with HR and external TPAs to develop and oversee implementation of benefit program campaigns.
  • Delivers in-person or virtual training sessions for HR, Managers, and Employees
  • Sets up benefit plan parameters in HR system in accordance with negotiated policies and employee contribution rates.
  • Identifies areas for improvements to benefits communication, administrative processes, and systems management and recommends solutions.
  • May be responsible for mentoring junior Benefits Administrators.
  • Evaluates the efficiency and value of current benefit programs and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborates with payroll and ensures that employer contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with accounts payable to ensure TPA bills are paid in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with TPAs and benefits consultants for timely submission of regulatory filings and reports as well as distribution of summary plan descriptions and related documentation to employees in accordance with federal, state, and provider regulations.
  • Prepares reports for audits and participates in appropriately providing data requested by auditors. Other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinates maintenance of employee records and benefits files with third-party administrators (TPAs).
  • Facilitates annual, new-hire and special enrollments and provides training through new employee orientation.
  • Provides accurate information to employees about the details of the company's benefit policies and procedures.
  • Responds to employee queries and requests in a timely manner to facilitate employee actions or to resolve issues.
  • Others duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Relevant Education: Bachelors Degree in HR management or related field strongly preferred; CEBS, CBF or GBA certifications desirable.


Relevant Experience: Significant experience performing benefits administration functions such as might be acquired over 5 or more years as a benefits administrator or as part of a benefits administration team.

Mobility

  • US citizenship is required
  • Travel may be required up to 5% of the time; current US passport recommended

Physical Capability

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents.
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 25lbs.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 25lbs.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for long periods of time.
