Job Description


The Electrical Engineer designs, develops, and tests electrical equipment, components, circuits, or systems. The Electrical Engineer applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to design and perform extensive testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved. The Electrical Engineer conducts research and studies new technologies to innovate and design solutions or products.

Role:

  • Designs and develops products by studying customer requirements and researching different solutions
  • Evaluate and approvedesigns of electrical systems, products, components, and applications to meet customer requirements while applying local and global electrical codes
  • Prepares product reports (quality, safety, etc.) by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Provide the purchasing department with specifications for ordering electrical componentsand assemblies
  • Studies the test data and makes comparisons with similar designs
  • Handles product change requests by modifying current product design and completing the product change notice
  • Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods for prototypes, finished products, and systems
  • Perform other assignments as instructed by their manager
  • Develops estimates for assigned scope of work and is accountable for ensuring the team stays within the scope
  • Supports the business development process through input to proposals, meetings, presenting to prospective customers, etc.
  • Provides technical and engineering support to other departments/disciplines
  • Acts as a mentor to engineers in additional areas
  • Support academic research
  • Contribute to the electrification journey and propose new electrification-related studies for SRD rigs while focusing on ADS platform rigs globally
  • Support energy efficiency activities and propose new studies and concepts for ADS platform rigs to meet the CO2 emission targets for SRD
  • Support in growing the electrification global organization for ADS platform products
  • Act as the main technology reference for electrification and energy efficiency of ADS platform rigs
  • ADS products main interface with Epiroc Electrification Solutions for product design and R&D

  • Good understanding of motor drives, battery systems, diesel battery systems, and MV cable-based drill rigs

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Masters preferred
  • 10+ years in anelectrical engineering field

Some travel to mines, supplier locations, conferences, etc. which may include overseas travel. Occasionally you will need to work with production personnel during the assembly and testing of the rigs.
