Lead Technician - Total Gas & Chemical Management

Position Summary

  • TGCM (Total Gas and Chemical Management) Lead Technician Level work at customer's facilities and will perform routine duties detailed in this specification, based on terms of contract with customer.

Essential Accountabilities

Safety Function

  • Perform all duties following appropriate work instructions and procedures. Wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for tasks requiring use of PPE. Bring safety issues to attention of the TGCM Site Manager. Responsible for safely operating and maintaining equipment required for the customer to produce their products. Work is typically in a team environment.

Quality Function

  • Follow work instructions and established procedures. Bring ideas for improvement to the TGCM Site Services Manager for consideration. Work Schedule will be compressed shift or standard shift. Complete all training that is required.

Detailed Description of Activities

  • The TGCM Lead Technician will maintain a safe work environment
  • The TGCM Lead Technician will complete all safety training in accordance with the schedule
  • The TGCM Lead Technician is required to safely handle chemical and gas containers in accordance with work instructions.
  • All work to be performed in a safe manner, following all workplace safety protocols and requirements
  • Participate in process development, working with TGCM Site Services Manager
  • Operation of chemical and gas distribution systems
  • HPM and inert cylinder changes (including tonners, packs, tube trailers and other bulk containers are required)
  • Chemical container changes (including drums, totes and other bulk containers as required)
  • Basic troubleshooting of chemical and gas distribution systems
  • Provide basic training to TGCM Technician I and II employees
  • Rounds and readings, are required
  • Inventory of Chemicals and gases as required
  • Fab deliveries as required
  • Alarm response on equipment operated and maintained by Matheson
  • Gas and chemical system preventive maintenance and repair, as required
  • Purification systems operation and maintenance and repair, as required
  • Unloading of trucks using PIT (powered industrial truck) and manual equipment such as carts and pallet jacks
  • Write Safe Work Permits for contractors, as needed
  • Emergency Response Team Member, as required
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste, as required
  • Escalation of issues (shutdowns, safety concerns, customer requests, ect.) to the appropriate person(s), as required
  • Participation in audits, as required
  • Complete training to adhere to customer requirements, if required
  • Housekeeping, keeping Matheson areas clutter-free and clean per 5S requirements
  • Manage inventory, if required by terms of contract
  • Work with customer Purchasing Department on managing supplies
  • Input data from work into CMMS to flesh out monthly data for reporting purposes
  • Other duties as assigned

Training, Education and Experience Required

  • High school diploma required. Ability to work shift as required
  • Advanced troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Train and mentor new and lesser experienced technician
