PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Plant Controller provides financial leadership to the Waxahachie Plant. This position will be accountable for driving results to the segment manufacturing financial leader and maintaining a control environment that complies with the Company's internal control policies and Sarbanes Oxley.

The Plant Controller is expected to be a dynamic leader on the plant leadership team by contributing to all areas of plant management. This individual will also be responsible for leadership of non-financial plant administrative processes such as sourcing, materials/production planning, IT, and security.

Span of Control: This individual may be responsible for leadership of non-financial plant administrative processes such as sourcing, storeroom, information systems, security, scheduling, warehouse, and shipping (location dependent).

Reports to: This position reports directly to the plant leader with strong reporting accountability for driving results to the segment manufacturing financial leader.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Living Safe and Promoting a Strong Safety Culture

Operations Planning and Plant Processes

  • Participates in the development of operational objectives for the plant that are aligned to Corporate and Division strategic objectives
  • Leads proactive development of contingency plans, productivity improvement and corrective actions to ensure facility financial results and shareholder value is optimized

Financial and Operational Controls

  • Ensures that there is an effective and efficient system of internal controls including data integrity, asset protection, segregation of duties, budgeting, financial reporting, information systems and adherence to corporate policies and governmental regulations (GAAP, SOX compliance, etc.)
  • Drives a robust representation letter process that provides assurance and visibility to a sound internal control environment
  • Leads the Continuous sign-off process to ensure that accountability for internal controls is clear and that processes are documented

Reporting & Analysis

  • Leads financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Prepares and delivers the plant financial forecasts and projections to Plant Leader
  • Monitors the plant's monthly closing process in conjunction with the Accounting team
  • Communicates results effectively to management and non-financial personnel
  • Provides in-depth analysis on variances to plan and forecast with the Plant Leader as well as holding leadership accountable to plant budget.
  • Provides risk analysis for contingency planning

Driving plant profitability

  • Leads actions in line with achieving targets, mitigating risk and prioritizing resource needs
  • Leads proactive development of contingency plans, productivity improvement and corrective actions to ensure facility financial results and shareholder value is optimized.
  • Provides insightful and competitive analytics that anticipate change and drive decision making
  • Provides investment analysis
  • Assists in contract evaluation and negotiation
  • Educates plant personnel on key performance metrics

Cross-functional leadership and team contribution

  • Works across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant, division, or corporate objectives
  • Supports plant events and leads/participates onteams in plant (Leads TPM Office Pillar, participates on other TPM Pillar teams,Safety Committee, Emergency Response, Threat Management, Wellness teams, etc. as appropriate.
  • Shares best practices across division, i.e., process improvements, financial modeling and procedures changes.
  • Aligns teams and resources in order to solve problems and drive results
  • Provides support to team members at plant, segment, and corporate level

Talent Management

  • Creates an environment where talent is developed through effective performance management, talent evaluation systems, and utilization of people
  • Leads the sourcing and warehousing teams at the Tallmadge plant to drive excellence in service metrics as well as efficient plant buying and strategic sourcing capabilities. All in proper adherence with internal controls.
  • Performance management with WHS and Sourcing teams as well as year-end merit review process. Front line leader engagement and development with specific goals - Buyer, Receiver, Sr. WHS Group Leader, WHS Group Leader.
  • Acts as a resource to the non-financial leaders of the business providing education and training on the key principles of Finance
  • Invests in the growth and development of their direct reports and other identified talent in the organization
  • Ensures development plans are in place for key roles

Leadership for the oversight and accountability of plant security

  • Ensures the delegation and successful completion of site security functions, included but not limited to: Managing/implementing OC Security Standards, quarterly assessment of security equipment, security capital project management, incident investigation coordination (contact for local authorities, communication with WHQ), talent management of security guards, site contact for security badges, audits and visits, and monitor completion of WHQ required training.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or relevant discipline. MBA, CMA, CPA preferred.
  • 5 - 7 years operating in a range of economic conditions, i.e. expansion, contraction, stable economic conditions-forecasting, scenario planning, risk analysis and contingency development.
  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical ability accompanied by knowledge of corporate finance and manufacturing costing principles-understands P&L and balance sheet dynamics

  • Providing leadership to organizations within a manufacturing operation(s)-leading operations planning, savings, forecasting and investment analysis
  • Delivering continuous improvement.

  • Attracting, developing and retaining outstanding talent-growing talent and succession planning.
  • Demonstrated high growth in previous experience
