Reports to:          Manager, Inventory & Cost Accounting

Location:             Plano, TX

Work model:       Hybrid (partly remote / 2-3 days in-office)

SUMMARY

 

The mission of this role is to prepare and support the end-to-end Inventory, cost accounting, and financial reporting functions. This position will be expected to participate heavily in period end closing activities and ensure Inventory and COGS are in compliance with US GAAP and company policies. The position will report to the Manager, Inventory & Cost Accounting.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform the end-to-end Inventory, cost accounting and financial reporting functions by collaborating with the revenue team, contract manufacturers, supply chain management, FP&A and order management to ensure accurate accounting and reporting for Inventory and COGS.
  • Maintain standard cost updates , analyze variations on a monthly basis and perform general update of standard costs based on company policies.
  • Perform the analysis of the purchase price variance account (PPV).
  • Prepare inventory, accruals, intercompany, purchase price variance and cost accounts journal entries and reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Actively engage in the preparation of the inventory excess and obsolescence reserve accruals.
  • Participate in the Inventory and COGS close process to ensure timely and accurate accounting and reporting in accordance with US GAAP and company policies
  • Prepare and provide quarterly and annual audit/Sarbanes-Oxley compliance support/schedules as requested (internal and external).
  • Perform the opening and closing tasks for accounting periods related to the Inventory and Cost modules in our system.
  • Prepare the vendor royalty reports and accruals and support the Royalties team with follow-up questions and concerns.
  • Assist in the preparation for any physical inventory counts.
  • Assist the Manager, Inventory & Cost with process improvements relating to reporting and metrics by designing and implementing proactive solutions to worldwide issues on an as-needed basis
  • Assist the Manager, Inventory & Cost and the Accounting/Finance Department in any additional projects as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have experience in inventory and COGS application and methodology with a demonstrated track record of success working in operations for a highly regarded organization. 

  • Working knowledge of inventory methodology and cost accounting application and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of purchased finished goods process, purchase price variance and standard cost accounting.
  • Proficiency in Hyperion and Oracle (or other fully integrated ERP system) is a plus; advanced skills in Excel are required.
  • Enjoy challenging opportunities to assist or co-design solutions to perplexing issues that can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and often ambiguous work environment, in light of the monthly deadlines for financial reporting purposes.
  • Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with other departments and team members in other countries located on a different time zone.
  • Must be motivated, with a proactive personality who is able to work independently or with a team.
  • Excellent analytical, written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA or MBA is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in accounting, audit or finance.
  • A minimum of 3 years of finished goods cost accounting, with an emphasis on demonstrable achievement and understanding of inventory and cost accounting application.
  • Prior telecom or technology industry experience preferred.
  • Oracle experience preferred.
